A small school nestled in the mountains was transformed into a six-day-only learning space.
This “Awa Culture School” offered visitors the chance to gradually experience Tokushima—through seeing, touching, and tasting. People of all ages, from young children to seniors, came to participate.
From searching for the right school building to planning class schedules and creating meal menus, every step of the process was both enjoyable and deeply rewarding for us as creators. Watching the once-abandoned, cobweb-filled school come back to life, we were reminded of how exciting and inspiring a school can be.

A School as a Framework

To truly share the culture of Tokushima, a simple exhibition or tasting event would leave little lasting impact. We sought a format where people could gather, enjoy, learn, eat, and experience together.
By utilizing a closed school, we explored not only its visual and conceptual appeal, but also its potential to contribute to regional revitalization and cost-effective reuse. With the goal of creating a long-lasting, community-rooted event framework, this project was born.
