Ochicochi — Far and Near, Old and New
The logo is built around the idea of two inseparable elements becoming one. Inspired by the Japanese concept of hyōri ittai—the coexistence of two seemingly opposite yet inherently connected forces—it symbolizes the coming together of Shinonome and Retenka, two independently operated businesses that have united under one roof.
The motif draws inspiration from materials found in nature, reflecting the owners' philosophy, their deep connection to the land, and the idea of taking root within the local community.
The symbol is based on the form of a blue stone (Aoishi), a natural stone shaped and polished over countless years. No two stones are ever alike, making each one a unique expression of time, place, and character. This individuality mirrors the identity of the newly united space while expressing its enduring relationship with the surrounding landscape.
