今年度より徳島県立近代美術館の展覧会のデザインを担当させていただくことになりました。
プロポーザルで選定された美術館デザイナーの一人として3年間、制作のお手伝いをさせていただきます。「いつか美術館の展覧会デザインに関わってみたい」という想いがようやく実現できました。
ディーン・ボーエン氏はオーストラリアのアーティストでその作風はアール・ブリュットの巨匠ジャン・デュビュッフェ氏の影響を受けています。
アール・ブリュットに関しては10年ほど美術展のグラフィックに関わっていたり、オーストラリアは実は、唯一行ったことのある海外だったりと偶然にも個人的にとても縁を感じるお仕事になりました。
作品は素朴でありながら、エネルギッシュでバイタリティに溢れ、それでいてとてもユーモラスだったりチャーミングだったりします。
Beginning this year, I have been appointed as one of the designers responsible for exhibition graphics at the Tokushima Modern Art Museum.
Selected through a proposal-based competition, I will be contributing to the museum's exhibition design program over the next three years. It is especially meaningful to me, as working on exhibition graphics for an art museum has long been one of my professional aspirations.
This exhibition features the work of Australian artist Dean Bowen, whose distinctive style has been influenced by Jean Dubuffet, one of the leading figures of Art Brut.
The project also held a personal significance for me. For nearly a decade, I have been involved in graphic design for exhibitions related to Art Brut, and Australia happens to be the only country I have visited outside Japan. These unexpected connections made the opportunity all the more rewarding.
Bowen's works are deceptively simple yet filled with energy and vitality, while at the same time expressing a delightful sense of humor and unmistakable charm.
