I designed the visual identity for Yakiniku Kappo Nobe, a new restaurant near Tokushima Station where the renowned Nobe premium Awa Beef is served in the style of traditional Japanese kappo cuisine.
The concept began with the Japanese character 「の」, the first letter of the restaurant's name. Written in a single continuous stroke that begins and ends at two distinct points, it became a metaphor for a journey—one continuous path carrying the values and history of the brand.
Building on this idea, the character 「べ」 was reinterpreted as the Japanese character for heart (心), leading to the concept of "No-gokoro"—literally, the heart of Nobe. This became the foundation of a custom logotype that embodies the spirit and philosophy cherished by the restaurant.
The visual identity consists of several coordinated elements, including the primary Japanese logotype, an English logotype, supporting graphic elements, and a signature seal. The secondary graphic features five interlocking circles, inspired by the restaurant's origins. The founder began the family business with just five cattle, making the number five a symbol of the brand's roots. It also reflects the five core values identified during the brand development process, establishing five as a central visual concept throughout the identity.
